- Networking with other professionals from Tennessee.
- The annual conference features educational programs, general membership meeting and networking opportunities.
- The annual Prism Awards competition honors marketing and public relations efforts in hospitals and other healthcare organizations. These not only include publications, audiovisuals and advertising, but also total marketing and public relations programs. Judging is based on planning, execution, effective use of financial resources and results. The awards are presented during the society's annual meeting.
- In conjunction with the Prism Awards, the society makes three special presentations.
- The Ira M. Lane, Jr. Communicator of the Year Awards goes each year to an individual who is not a member of TSHMPR or a healthcare marketing or public relations professional and has made a significant contribution to the dissemination of healthcare information and issues to the general public.
- The Lamar Jackson Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to a TSHMPR member who has made significant contributions to the society over a sustained period of time.
- The President's Award, not necessarily given every year, goes to a TSHMPR member who has made significant contributions during the current president's term of office.
- TSHMPR sponsors professional development workshops in cooperation with THA.
- The THA health science library open to TSHMPR members provides associates comprehensive grouping of marketing and public relations manuals, handbooks and related anthologies.
- TSHMRP membership also provides an opportunity to participate in decision making about the healthcare, marketing and public relations profession, both statewide and across the nation.
